This Privacy Policy explains how Techne, operated by Jonathan Hines Dumitru, collects, uses, and protects your information when you use www.techne.study and the Techne platform. If you don’t agree with this policy, please don’t use Techne.

1. Information We Collect

We collect only what we need to run the platform and help you learn:

• Account data: your name and email address, provided when you request an invite or create an account. We don’t collect shipping addresses or demographic profiles.

• Learning & code data: the code and project work you submit, along with your progress, mastery, gate results, capstone submissions, and the credentials you earn. This is the core of how Techne teaches and grades.

• Usage data: information your browser and our servers record automatically, such as IP address, browser and device type, access times, and the pages you view, used to keep the service secure and working.

2. How We Use Your Information

We use your information to operate Techne and improve how it teaches. Specifically, we may:

• Create and manage your account and invite access.

• Run and grade your code in a sandbox, power the AI tutor, track mastery, and issue credentials.

• Email you about your account, security, and changes to our policies.

• Improve the curriculum, concept graph, tutor, and overall platform.

• Monitor usage and trends to keep the service reliable and secure.

3. How We Share Your Information

We do not sell your personal information. We share it only in these cases:

• AI & infrastructure providers: to power core features, your prompts and submitted code are sent to our AI provider (Anthropic) for tutoring and grading, and to our sandbox/execution and hosting providers to run your code. They process this data on our behalf under their own terms and do not use it to train their models where such controls are available.

• Other service providers: vendors that help us operate, such as email delivery, error monitoring, and analytics, limited to what they need to perform their service.

• Law & safety: when we reasonably believe disclosure is needed to comply with the law, enforce our Terms, or protect the rights, property, or safety of Techne, our learners, or others.

4. Data Security & Retention

We use reasonable administrative, technical, and physical safeguards to protect your information, and keep it only as long as needed to run the platform and provide your account. No method of storage or transmission is perfectly secure. Techne is in private beta, so systems may change and you should avoid submitting real secrets or sensitive personal data in your code.
